What Is SAEM?

Georgia Youth Eco Movement (SAEM) is a non-governmental, non-for-profit youth environmental organization founded on February 27th, 1993, oriented towards raising the environmental awareness of young people, popularizing natural science, and involving young people in environmental activities. SAEM unites young people under 30 who love nature, care about the environment, and want to contribute to its protection.

Mission

The mission of SAEM is to advance environmental knowledge and culture of youth, help them to form strong environmental values and become responsible citizens of their societies in Georgia. SAEM works closely with schools and educational centers, is actively involved in national campaigns for climate change, biodiversity, waste management and energy issues. Environmental education and public participation are two important areas where SAEM contributes since 1990s till today.

Structure

The supreme governing body of the SAEM is the general assembly, which is the decision-making body of all the real members of the SAEM, and its sessions are held once a year. Between the sessions of the general assembly, the activities of the organization are managed by the board consisting of 5 members, who are elected at the session of the general assembly.
